The 3rd round of the Great Britain Hockey
Inline Conference held in Scotland went superbly well;
unfortunately the Flintshire team could not attend this
trip. Not to be outdone with the lack of games, there
were more than enough Scotland Academy players to split
and make two teams, to keep the game schedule as was.
The first game of the day saw both Scotland teams having
a great game, team play and hard work from both saw a
great performance, up and down hockey saw a few good
moves from teams as well as some excellent stick to
stick passing, great game well done.
Second game of the day Saw Midland v Southern, some very
high standard hockey from both teams and a great game
for all to watch as both teams are used to a much bigger
pad from purpose built rinks the standard of play is
very much on a different level.
Games 3 and 4 saw back to back games for the guest
Scotland team versus Midlands and Southern. The Team
put up such a fabulous performance of hockey, great
skating and passing saw the team give 100% of themselves
in both games and managing to score past the Southern
netminder, superb!
Game 5 Saw Scotland Conference versus Midlands, what a
nail biting game as Scotland were down back came back
into the game to bring the score line level then going 1
ahead, Midlands stuck in and equalised, this was a tense
game which saw Scotland dig deep and pull back to win
the game by 1. Superb performance from all, well done.
Game 6 Scotland Conference versus Southern, Scotland had
it all to do in this game having lost in Bisley 10 - 2.
Nevertheless, some hard work from the team during the
previous weeks at training surely brought forth another
thrilling game. Southern taking the lead and thought
they were onto a cruising game, were soon 'all
shook up' by the performance of the Scotland
squad as they fired into gear and were at times all over
the Southern team and right back into the game, as the
score line drew too close for comfort, a time-out was
called by the Southern coach. A rather loud
'telling
off' could be heard from the opposite end of
the pad before both teams met up for face off. The game
once again saw Scotland take the game to the
Southerners, and a game which saw spectators on the edge
of their seats. This game ended 5 - 3 in favour of the
Southern team, well done, and well done to Scotland who
certainly put into action all that the team can do as
team effort and sportsmanship could be seen all round
from both our Scottish teams, this was a superb day of
hockey ending in a standing ovation what a great way to
end the day. Well done to all the teams. Coaches and
Managers. The Spectators, timekeepers and referees.
Thank you all.
